In the first verse, I talk about chicks who do all that extra fashion shit. No one gives a fuck about all that shit. All that shit is not necessary to be who you are. Grafh : Yeah. The streets run this shit. The street shit is where I can say whatever I want to say and express myself. The album just expresses all the pain and crazy shit I went through when I was young up until now. It was really just me and my mom in the streets. He took me under his wing and tried to show me right from wrong.
As soon as we got close and I felt I had someone there for me, he got murdered right in front of me. Then I was alone again. That fucked my mind up. I was going to school. My grades were good. I was trying to maintain and do me, focus. Then when I turned 16 or 17, my father came back into my life. As soon as I felt like I was getting to know him, he got shot. I was right there. I saw the whole thing. I said I must be bad luck.
That kinda fucked me up. We were poor. Fuck that shit. I was just doing me. I was doing what I had to do to get whatever I wanted. Plus, I had to put food on the table for all of us. I bought my first car at I would write to express myself…I was ghostwriting at an early age. Grafh : Hell yeah. For sure. You get a nice amount of money to ghostwrite. Go ahead. Knock yourself out. Before, I was working by choice. Now, I have to. I have no choice. If you want that number one spot, you have to go get that shit. I bust my ass every fucking day. Black Hand is not just a rap label. This shit started in the federal prison system back in the day — in the 40s and 50s by OGs.
When they came home from the jail system, they went to different regions of the country. We put out an independent album called Black Gangsta. When my pops got shot, he tried to take me under his wing. Grafh : Yeah, I knew. I had a big-ass buzz in the hood. He always knew me. My real name is Phil, so he knew me as Phil. When they brought me to him, he was still looking for Grafh. I was standing there laughing.
We just hit it off from there and now here we are making history together. Grafh : It must be. It must be meant to be. How do you juggle your workload with your responsibilities as an artist? I implement the same process that I use on my own project with the whole company.
We have to find new ways to promote, new ways to market. All the brainstorming that I apply to myself, I apply to my company. It works hand-in-hand.

Soaking up everything just makes me a better artist. The only person doing something different is Andre I listen to everything. Music is music. I love and appreciate the fans I have now.
